The Portuguese Honorary Consulate in Auckand processes
(until 15 June 2019) applications for
passports from holders of current
Portuguese ID cards, and performs
certain notary functions, like powers of attorney and
certification of documents issued by New Zealand authorities.
services, like birth registration (nationality), marriage
registration and ID cards can be provided only
by the Consulate-General in Sydney or the Embassy in Canberra. Some civil registration acts
can be carried out by correspondence, but applications for Portuguese ID cards require the applicant to appear in person in
Sydney or Canberra.
Request for work or residency visas are also processed in
Sydney, but tourist visas (Schengen) can be applied to the
French Embassy in Wellington.
